Skipton Building Society Chief collects national credit industry award

John Goodfellow, chief executive of Skipton Building Society, has been recognised for his 'significant contribution to the UK credit industry' in the annual awards of the industry magazine Credit Today.

The award was presented at a glittering ceremony attended by nearly 1,000 people at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London on May 5th.

John Goodfellow was recognised for his lifetime of achievement in the building society industry and for his role in setting up Leeds-based credit reference agency Callcredit, one of the credit industry's rising stars.

Launched four years ago, Callcredit has quickly established itself as one of the UK's leading credit reference agencies, making effective use of the latest web-based technology to bring increased competition and value into a marketplace previously dominated by just two major players. Callcredit's most recent innovation is to provide consumers with online access to their credit files at www.mycallcredit.com.

John McAndrew, Callcredit's managing director, who nominated John Goodfellow for the award, said:

"John's vision and entrepreneurial approach in setting up Callcredit is having a major and continued impact on the credit industry. He is a very deserving recipient of this accolade."
