NEW DIRECTOR BOOSTS INDUSTRY LINKS

Leeds-based credit reference agency Callcredit has recruited Melanie Mitchley to fill the new position of Director - Industry Relationships.

Melanie, who was previously Head of Fraud at GE Consumer Finance, will be responsible for developing Callcredit's relationships with relevant industry bodies, trade associations, government departments and other regulatory organisations.

Commenting on her appointment, Callcredit's Managing Director John McAndrew said:

"The creation of this new position shows the importance we attach to playing a full part in the industry, monitoring developments and ensuring our views and opinions are well represented. Melanie's work at GE Consumer Finance and before that at Alliance & Leicester, has given her a wealth of experience in this type of role. Added to that, having spent her career with some of the UK's biggest consumer lending organisations, she brings a valuable new perspective to Callcredit's senior management team."

Melanie began her career at HSBC, spending seven years at First Direct before moving to Abbey National. Her career then took her to Alliance & Leicester as Head of Credit & Risk before switching to GE Consumer Finance in early 2002.

She said:

"I'm delighted to be joining Callcredit at such an exciting stage in its development. The credit industry is changing and faces a number of issues. My aim will be to ensure that Callcredit takes an active part in shaping the industry's future."
