Nationwide choose Callcredit to support new credit application functionality

The world's largest building society, Nationwide, has chosen to include Callcredit Information Group's credit and affordability suite as an integral part  of its new credit application functionality.

Callcredit will supply a real time data solution to deliver a credit data summary of a customer's credit file alongside a credit risk score which will enable Nationwide to identify the credit risk associated with each applicant both quickly and efficiently.

In addition, Nationwide will be able to automate applications to Callcredit's affordability suite to validate an applicant's income and affordability in respect of personal loan applications. The affordability check helps lenders to facilitate responsible lending decisions based on a view of over-indebtedness rather than simply assessing a customer's credit history.

Iain Laing, Chief Risk Officer, Nationwide commented "In reviewing suppliers of credit and affordability data, we have consistently found Callcredit's approach to be collaborative and client-focused, with the result that we get incremental value from using their data.  Ultimately this enables us to lend to more customers, more conveniently, without compromising our standards of control."

Kaye Rickards, Strategic Account Director, Callcredit added "Credit checks and robust affordability assessments are a crucial part of the application process and we are delighted to work with Nationwide on such a huge initiative. As consumers continue to feel the squeeze on their disposable income it is reassuring that Nationwide are actively seeking the means to ensure they continue to lend responsibly"
