CallML up for hat trick of awards

CallML, an electronic identity verification service that is used by more than 600 law firms across the UK, has been short-listed in three different categories of the Legal Technology Awards 2007.

Developed by credit reference agency Callcredit, CallML enables law firms and other regulated firms to confidently and cost-effectively comply with the stringent 'know your customer' requirements of the latest anti-money laundering legislation. Available as an online service, it confirms identities in seconds, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, using a range of positive and negative information sources.

Now in their second year, the Legal Technology Awards recognise and celebrate excellence in the provision and implementation of technology solutions for the benefit of legal practice.

CallML has been short-listed in three of the supplier categories:

  • Technology innovation of the year
  • Best of breed system of the year
  • Online product of the year

Callcredit's Martin Cheek said:

"Verifying the identity of new customers with the confidence that your company has complied with all the requirements of money laundering legislation is a key concern for all regulated companies. CallML makes life much easier for law firms and their clients. It saves them both the considerable cost and inconvenience of supplying and checking documentary evidence, such as driving licences and passports.

The number of law firms using CallML is evidence of its success but winning an award would be a tremendous independent endorsement."

Winner of the Awards, which are organised by publishers Legalease in association with Legal Technology Journal, will be announced at a gala awards dinner on 25 January 2007.
