Callcredit’s GMAP joins forces with British Embassy to offer support to UK businesses in Japan

GMAP Japan, part of Callcredit Information Group, is excited to announce its involvement in the British Embassy's Export to Japan initiative, helping UK businesses expand into the Japanese market.

The new membership scheme has been launched this week and GMAP's involvement will form an important part of a new website www.exporttojapan.co.uk which offers information and services on the Japanese market to those UK companies wishing to enter or expand into the country.

With an office in Tokyo and over 10 years experience of planning consultancy in Japan, GMAP is a leading provider of market intelligence, retail planning and predictive modelling solutions to a number of major global brands including L'Oreal, adidas and Cath Kidston.

For those companies wishing to enter new markets such as Japan it can be a very daunting and challenging prospect; from simple market analysis, identifying target prospect groups for direct marketing activity right through to strategic retail planning, site selection and store performance measurement, GMAP's sophisticated yet easy-to-use tools provide invaluable support for marketers and property planners alike, both for international and UK markets.

Japan is one of the largest retail markets in the world with over 3,000 separate retail centres. Therefore identifying the best locations or deciding on how many stores should be opened can be confusing for those businesses unfamiliar with the market place. In order to provide greater insight and to help organisations wishing to break into this high retail market, GMAP's flagship consumer marketing tool CAMEO Japan has been rebuilt using the latest census data, which offers clients the most up-to-date granular view of the population. GMAP's bi-lingual team of consultants based in Japan believe that their expertise and longevity in the country will encourage more British businesses to have confidence in locating there.

As part of the Export to Japan initiative GMAP will offer a 20 per cent discount on all services over a 12 month period from engagement to British clients wishing to expand into the Japanese market.

The British Embassy Tokyo commented "Export to Japan is an exciting new initiative with a network of business partners based in Japan who are providing UK companies with the support they need to succeed here. It is great that British retailers now know where to go to get the practical support they need from companies like GMAP - their experienced team of consultants in Japan can help UK retailers break into this lucrative market"

Luke Whittam, GMAP's Asia-Pacific Director said "We are delighted to be involved in this fantastic initiative and to support the growth of UK businesses in Japan. We have helped with the expansion of a number of British blue-chip clients into the country and as such our knowledge and expertise runs across a wide range of industries including fashion, convenience stores and fuel retailers, as well as automotive and financial services. With headquarters in the UK and an operation in Japan we are able to offer British companies the highest level of support and we hope that our incentive will encourage more British companies to explore the Japanese market"
