Callcredit charity walk raises over £7000 for Macmillan

Credit professionals tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

On Friday 19th June 2009, a team of 54 people - 36 clients and 18 staff from Leeds-based credit reference agency Callcredit - set off to walk the Yorkshire Three Peaks to help raise money for cancer support charity Macmillan.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves walking approximately 24 miles (39.2km) and takes in over 5,000 feet (1,600 metres) of climbing. By tradition, the walk must be completed within 12 hours in order for the walkers to qualify to join the "Three Peaks of Yorkshire Club", an achievement that all 54 walkers managed to achieve. Not only did the group complete the Challenge within 12 hours, they have also raised over £7000 (and counting) in sponsorship fees.

Mike Davies, Business Development Director at Callcredit and Group Leader of the Challenge comments:  "What a great day - and a fantastic to have all of the walkers back within the 12 hours. The personal challenge was immense, and the money raised for Macmillan makes it a truly rewarding experience."

Jamie Strachan, fundraising manager at Macmillan, said: "It's fantastic that Callcredit decided to support Macmillan, they didn't set themselves an easy challenge and approached it with great enthusiasm.  Most importantly with the money raised through this event we will be able pay for a Macmillan nurse for three months - a great achievement.
