Callcredit announces partnership with Capita to assist local authorities in recovering council tax debt

Callcredit Information Group today announced (28 October 2013) a partnership with Capita's software services business to link Callcredit's credit reference data with Capita's revenues and benefits software.

The partnership will enable local authorities using Capita's software to directly access consumer credit reference data in circumstances where for example, people have moved and not provided new contact details. This will simplify the search process for councils and reduce costs.

The collaborative offering will help local authorities improve already impressive collection rates whilst enabling them to make better, more informed decisions in relation to repayment arrangements with certain individuals.

Marcus Hayes, Senior Business Development Manager, Callcredit Information Group said: "The financial pressure for local authorities is extensive and this is further impacted by spending cuts and spiralling demand for support from citizens.  We understand this pressure and are committed to helping local authorities trace debtors and recover the money owed to them."

Paul Millard, Capita's software services Operations Director said: "In the current climate it is more important than ever for councils to quickly recover any council tax debt that is owed to them. Regardless of how that debt occurs, they need a simple and effective way to trace the people with arrears and establish their ability to pay.  Our local authority customers will benefit from Capita's software linking directly into the data provided by Callcredit because it will not only offer them a cost effective way to trace debt, but it will also remove a lot of duplicated effort. It will also ensure that all of the information about each case is neatly, and automatically, captured in one place."
