ASDA nets a winner to raise cash for Leeds primary school

Local businesses get active to provide new netball kit for school.

Businesses from across Leeds came together on Saturday 9th May for the second annual Callcredit Information Group Netball Tournament. Teams from ASDA, accountancy firms Mazars, Baker Tilly, and PricewaterhouseCoopers, market research company Principles and law firms Addleshaw Goddard and Eversheds, joined two teams from the Callcredit Information Group (CIG) itself.

The teams battled it out with local supporters on the sidelines cheering the teams on. The tournament came to a head with a dramatic final between ADSA and CIGnature, a team from Callcredit Information Group, with ASDA emerging the overall winners, netting 28 goals to CIGnature's 14.

The tournament raised over £300 for Leeds-based Rosebank Primary School with the money being spent on a brand new netball kit. After a well deserved buffet lunch children from Rosebank Primary School helped to draw the raffle and teams were presented with goody bags and trophies for their efforts.

Rosebank teacher Dani Harbord said "All the teams that took part in the competition played to a high standard and the children enjoyed playing their own game in front of a supportive crowd. It is fantastic when companies like Callcredit organise events in aid of local causes, and the Rosebank children will directly benefit with a brand new netball kit".

Claire Geeson, Callcredit Information Group tournament organiser said, "Now in its second year the CIG Netball Tournament was again a fantastic success, with all seven teams showcasing great talent and sportsmanship. We are hugely proud to be supporting Rosebank Primary School, and as a local school based in Leeds, we look forward to seeing the netball kit in action."
